Our story begins in the garden…
Long before I began dyeing textiles I was raised among plants. My mother and grandmothers were gardeners, caretakers and observers of the natural world. They taught me that plants are more than decorations, they are companions, healers, storytellers and teachers. Ours has always been a lineage of plant whisperers.
While studying herbalism I discovered the ancient practice of botanical dyeing. I became immersed in the world of plants in an entirely new way. I found myself increasingly drawn to the alchemy of transforming plants into color and thus began my journey into dyeing.
From our studio in Napa, California, my husband and I create naturally dyes silk scarves and reclaimed garments using plants grown, gathered and foraged, mostly from the landscape around us. Each pieces dyed slowly with intention. No two dye baths are ever exactly the same, no two pieces are identical. Every scarf and garment we make ,carries the story of the plants that colored it, the land that nurtured it and the hands that crafted it.
We hope that when you wear one of our pieces you feel the connection, to nature, tradition and the magic that exists all around us and is being whispered back to you by the mineral, plant and animal kingdom.
Thank you for being here and supporting our family centered + artist led studio, where we prioritize our family, intentionally create pieces that flow from the heart, listen to the plants and let color slowly unfold.
